| Q: How do I share files? |
| A: Place the file(s) in any folder that has an "Earth" icon on it. To make the folder shared publicly, right-click on the folder and select 'Sharing' or click the 'Sharing' button on the toolbar. Next, give the Public group access to the folder you wish to share. You must at least give it view access to make it public. The most common access is view + download which will allow complete public access to the file. |
| Q: Once the public group is enabled, what is the link that will view it? |
| A: Click the "copy" button next to the "Address:" line - it will copy the public URL to the clipboard. You can then paste it into an email, auction site, etc. The address on the thumbnail screen will provide a link to an HTML-folder view of all the files. |
| Q: I need more detailed (step-by-step) help. Is there any available? |
| A: Yes. Click the Help button on the toolbar once you are logged into the application. You can also click here. |
| Q: What does a red background mean on some of my thumbnails? |
| A: This indicates a problem occurred uploading the file. You will need to delete the file and re-upload. |
| Q: I am having trouble with Download. What do I need to do? |
| A: A common issue people run into, is they type a filename into the Download 'Folder Browser' window. When you select Download (or Save As), use the 'Folder Browser' window that comes up to choose a folder to save the files (or file) into. Do not type anything in the filename field. |
| Q: Will you keep my email address private? |
| A: Yes. Your email address will not be sold to or shared with another party, nor in any other way be compromised. We respect your privacy and need for reduced SPAM in your inbox. |
| Q: Can I store more than just photos? |
| A: Any file type can be stored on MyOtherDrive.com. Store .exe, .zip, anything. Photos are specially handled so that they may be easily viewed. All file types can be downloaded. This permits sharing business files (office documents) in addition to media files (photos, music, videos). |
| Q: Who is ByteRocket.com? |
| A: ByteRocket.com is the actual corporation that created this site (MyOtherDrive.com). ByteRocket has other sites in the works. All of these sites are intended to make your life easier by letting you keep your data (photos, music, videos, calendar, lists, etc.) on our computers. |
| Q: What is the advantage of storing my data on MyOtherDrive.com? |
| A: Anything you place on MyOtherDrive.com can be shared or linked to. You control whether it is publicly, privately, or community shared. You can upload large portions of your local hard drive and know that your data is kept saefely offsite. |
| Q: I have a Mac. How do I bring up these 'right click' menus? |
| A: Press and hold the special 'mac' or 'apple' key and then click on the item (a thumbnail or folder for example). A menu will come up. You can release the key and select an item from the menu with a click of your mouse. |
