Keep your precious files and memories safe from disasters. Why not protect yourself from hard drive crashes,
power surges, dropped or stolen laptops, accidental deletes, natural disasters, or the dreaded 'new computer' syndrome?
You can use MyOtherDrive to act as an online backup drive to your personal computer, and insure yourself against these
potential major headaches.
Many people try using USB drives. That works pretty good, until the drive is stolen or damaged along with the computer. USB drives do not provide you access to your files while you travel, nor let you share some of your files.
Tape drives are slow and do not store enough data. Furthermore, when you need to restore a file, it is difficult and time
consuming to locate. Tape drives do not provide you access to your files while you travel, nor let you share some of your files.
Did you just purchase a new computer and have an old computer with all of your important files on it? Use MyOtherDrive to transfer the contents. Backup an entire folder structure, including sub folders, to your MyOtherDrive account. (Ideally you have already been backing up to MyOtherDrive before the new computer arrived for backup safety). Log onto your new computer, and pull the folders and files down from MyOtherDrive. If your laptop should crash for example, after replacing the laptop, simply download the entire set of folders from your MyOtherDrive account to your new laptop. All of your files will be restored. This is not an "image" back up - your applications would need to be re-installed to operate properly. You can select "Drive C:" and back up your entire drive. Make sure you purchase the upgrade account (probably at least the 100GB or 400GB option) so that you have enough online storage space to hold the contents of your hard drive.
When uploading files, our software is smart. If the file has not changed since it was last uploaded, it will not be re-transmitted. This saves a significant amount of time on the second backup, after the initial storage. No special software is downloaded to your computer. This process is run entirely from your web browser.
